An off-duty Nevada Highway Patrol sergeant who caused a three-car crash with one fatality smoked marijuana a maximum of four hours before the accident, prosecutors said Thursday. Sgt. Edward Lattin, 46, appeared in Justice Court by teleconference from the Clark County Detention Center, where he has been held since his Tuesday arrest on one felony count of driving under the influence resulting in death. The offense carries a penalty of two to 20 years in prison without the possibility of probation.
