51s gain doubleheader split with Sky Sox

The 51s were part of two shutouts Saturday in Colorado Springs, Colo., losing to the Sky Sox 5-0, then bouncing back for a 1-0 victory in Pacific Coast League action.

Davis Romero threw five innings of three-hit ball in the second game of the doubleheader, and 51s reliever Bryan Bullington got the win by yielding only a sixth-inning walk. Jeremy Accardo closed the game with a perfect seventh to get the save.

David Dellucci singled to open the top of the seventh for Las Vegas (25-38), then stole second base. With one out, Kyle Phillips was intentionally walked, and Jason Lane walked to load the bases.

Russ Adams followed with a sacrifice fly to score Dellucci.

In the opener, the Sky Sox (36-26) scored all their runs in the first three innings, though they got all they needed with a two-run first. Matt Miller had an RBI double, then scored on a sacrifice fly.

The 51s were shut down by Adam Eaton, who scattered three hits in five innings, with two strikeouts and one walk. Ben Julianel closed the game, allowing two hits in the last two innings, with three strikeouts.

The teams wrap up their five-game series today.
