51s shut down Iowa, push winning streak to season-high eight

Scott Richmond and three relievers combined on a four-hitter as the 51s extended their winning streak to a season-high eight games Tuesday with a 4-1 victory over the Iowa Cubs in a Pacific Coast League game in Des Moines, Iowa.

Richmond (3-2) allowed two hits, including Brad Snyder's leadoff homer in the fourth, and four walks in six innings. He struck out three.

Travis Snider and Dewayne Wise each hit an RBI single as Las Vegas (28-18) scored a run in each of the first three innings off Robert Coello (3-5).

Wise added another run-scoring single in the sixth and finished 3-for-5. Snider also had three hits.

Rommie Lewis relieved Richmond with 1 1/3 hitless innings, and Danny Farquhar gave up a leadoff single in the ninth inning but struck out two in earning his sixth save of the season.
