UNLV received a signed letter of intent Thursday from Findlay Prep shooting guard Rashad Vaughn, a McDonald’s All-American and the highest-ranked player in coach Dave Rice’s recruiting class.
Cody Doolin, a senior point guard and a graduate transfer from the University of San Francisco, signed a scholarship agreement Wednesday when the spring signing period opened.
The 6-foot-6-inch Vaughn, ranked by Rivals.com as the nation’s No. 7 high school senior, averaged 19.9 points and shot 43 percent from 3-point range this season for the Pilots. Vaughn scored 14 points in the McDonald’s All-American game in Chicago on April 3 and will play in the Jordan Brand Classic tonight in New York.
“Rashad is a great addition to our team,” Rice said. “He is an explosive scorer and is terrific making plays for others. Rashad is a high-level competitor and has a tremendous work ethic. He is a fantastic teammate and leader.
“(Doolin) is a true point guard and natural leader. He is a very capable scorer, but is at his best leading and making plays for others. He brings tremendous experience and a commitment to team.”
The Rebels’ incoming class includes Dwayne Morgan, a 6-7 forward from Baltimore, and Goodluck Okonoboh, a 6-9 forward from Wilbraham, Mass. Morgan and Okonoboh each signed in the fall.
