Jefferson ties NCAA record with seven TDs in UNR rout of Hawaii

HONOLULU - Junior Stefphon Jefferson tied an NCAA record by scoring seven touchdowns to lead UNR to a 69-24 victory over Hawaii on Saturday.

Jefferson gained 170 yards on 31 carries as the Wolf Pack (3-1, 1-0 Mountain West) snapped a seven-game losing streak in Honolulu dating to 1948. Jefferson scored on runs of 3, 2, 1, 5, 3 and 1 yards and added a 55-yard TD catch.

It was the fourth time a player has had seven TDs in a game, the first since Oklahoma State's Rashaan Woods in 2003.

Sean Schroeder was 22 of 40 for 234 yards for Hawaii (1-2, 0-1).

■ New Mexico 27, New Mexico State 14 - At Las Cruces, N.M., Kasey Carrier rushed for 129 yards, and the Lobos (22) snapped a 24-game road losing streak by beating the Aggies (1-3).

The last road victory for New Mexico came against New Mexico State, 35-24 on Sept. 27, 2008.

■ San Jose State 38, San Diego State 34 - At San Diego, David Fales threw four touchdown passes, including a 14-yarder to Chandler Jones with 50 seconds remaining, to lift the Spartans (3-1) to a wild win over the Aztecs (2-2).

■ Utah State 31, Colorado State 19 - At Fort Collins, Colo., senior Kerwynn Williams rushed for a career-high 205 yards on 21 carries, including touchdowns of 26 and 58 yards, to lead the Aggies (3-1) past the Rams (1-3).

■ Tulsa 27, Fresno State 26 - At Tulsa, Okla., the Golden Hurricane (3-1) overcame a 20-7 first-quarter deficit to beat the Bulldogs (2-2).

■ Wyoming 40, Idaho 37 - At Moscow, Idaho, Brett Smith's fifth touchdown pass, a 25-yarder to Jalen Claiborne in overtime, lifted the Cowboys (1-3) past the Vandals (0-4).
