Lakers rookie Russell says team’s fans are “spoiled,” McGrady might be best ever

Los Angeles Lakers point guard D'Angelo Russell already has made a couple of rookie mistakes. The No. 2 overall pick in the 2015 NBA draft, Russell recently infuriated many Lakers fans when he tweeted, "Honestly Tracy McGrady might have been the GOAT!"

By suggesting that McGrady was the greatest player of all time, Russell also was inadvertently slighting his new teammate, Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, who retweeted the rookie's post.

Russell committed another turnover when he was asked about the tweet by the Los Angeles Daily News.

"There's a lot of spoiled Lakers fans," Russell said, not exactly endearing himself to his new fan base. "I wasn't downgrading Kobe at all. I was just watching a highlight tape of Tracy McGrady and I got excited. I tweeted and the whole state of California went crazy."

Someone might want to give Russell a Magic Johnson tape.
