Late rally boosts Valley past Eldorado

Lashanda Martinez doubled home Alexis Moreno in the bottom of the eighth inning Thursday to lift Valley's softball team to an 8-7 home win over Eldorado.
The victory gave the Vikings second place in the Northeast Division.
Valley trailed 7-6 before Vanessa Corona drove in Britney Burnett in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings.
Lorena Villamar pitched a complete game and was 2-for-4 with a home run, a triple and five RBIs for Valley. Burnett was 3-for-4 with three runs.
• Bonanza 10, Western 0 -- At Bonanza, Jen Carey was 2-for-3 with a home run and a double to help the Bengals down the Warriors in six innings.
Stephanie DeJesus went
3-for-3 for Bonanza, and Reanna Huskie pitched a three-hitter with four strikeouts.
• Sierra Vista 12, Clark 0 -- At Clark, Tayler Aleman went
2-for-4 with a triple and Rachel Johnson and Kristin Delahoussaye each hit doubles as the Lions won in five innings.
Kelsey McCoy and Desiree Laswell combined to pitch a one-hit shutout.
• Las Vegas 7, Rancho 2 -- At Morgan Park, Jennifer Gliddon pitched a three-hitter with 10 strikeouts to help lead the Wildcats over the Rams.
Brianna Guzman was 3-for-4 and Tajia Law had a triple and three RBIs for Las Vegas. Jesslyn Bley pitched a complete game with seven strikeouts for Rancho.
• Durango 12, Bishop Gorman 5 -- At West Flamingo Park, Allie Voge went 5-for-5 to help lead the Trailblazers to victory.
Melissa Bako and Gabby King each hit a triple for Durango. Kendall Gurrola and Allison Vitangeli each hit two doubles for the Gaels.
• Canyon Springs 15, Chaparral 5 -- At Canyon Springs, Shelby Smitley was 4-for-5 with two triples, a double and six RBIs to help the Pioneers beat the Cowboys in six innings.
Sydney Ayala went 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Chaparral.
• Lake Mead 16-14, Beatty 0-3 -- At Lake Mead, Helen Borger allowed three hits in 11 innings with 23 strikeouts as the Eagles swept the Hornets.
BASEBALL
• Chaparral 7, Canyon Springs 6 -- At Canyon Springs, Greg Smallwood went 3-for-4 with one RBI to help the Cowboys edge the Pioneers and clinch the Northeast Division's No. 3 playoff seed.
Mark Stewart was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Chaparral, which led 7-1 before Canyon Springs scored five runs over the final two innings.
Brady Smith was 2-for-4 for the Pioneers.
• Bishop Gorman 11, Durango 4 -- At Hadland Park, Jeff Malm was 3-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and two runs to help the Gaels defeat Durango and earn the Southwest Division's No. 2 playoff seed.
Gorman's Taylor Cole was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs, and teammate Brandon Garcia was 3-for-4 with an RBI.
Ryan Kuehl went 2-for-3 with a home run for the Trailblazers.
• Eldorado 15, Valley 4 -- At Valley, Daniel Herrera struck out seven and allowed three hits to help the Sundevils top the Vikings in five innings.
Valley led 4-3 before scoring nine runs in the third.
Eldorado's Will Keith was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and two runs, and teammate Zach Cook had a double and three RBIs.
• Sierra Vista 14, Clark 0 -- At Clark, Josh Krumme had a three-run homer and a double to help the Lions to a five-inning win.
Jandy Eiroa added a two-run homer for Sierra Vista, and Matt Klein and Chris Krumme combined to pitch a one-hitter.
• Bonanza 12, Western 1 -- At Bonanza, Sean McInerney was 3-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs to lead the Bengals to a five-inning victory.
Joel Fernandez, Ryan Pined and Steve Francom each added two hits for Bonanza. Kyle Mackey and McInerney combined to pitch a two-hitter.
• Las Vegas 15, Rancho 2 -- At Rancho, Christian Lucero was 4-for-5 with four RBIs to help the Wildcats defeat the Rams in five innings.
Alex Church added two doubles for Las Vegas, and winning pitcher Wesley Grass struck out eight in four innings.
