Report: Lesnar close to deal for UFC return

He’s back.

Former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar will return to the organization to compete at the historic UFC 200 show on July 9 at T-Mobile Arena.

No opponent has been determined for Lesnar’s first fight in the UFC since 2011.

Lesnar, now 38, returned to professional wrestling after back-to-back first-round knockout losses to Cain Velasquez and Alistair Overeem.

The former college wrestling star and NCAA champion at Minnesota went 5-3 in eight professional MMA contests, including the last seven in the UFC.

The WWE confirmed Lesnar’s participation in UFC 200 with a statement on its website.

“Brock Lesnar remains under contract to WWE, however, he has been granted a one-off opportunity to compete at UFC 200,” the statement read. “Following this milestone event on July 9, Brock will return to WWE for SummerSlam on (Aug. 21) live on WWE Network.”

Lesnar won the UFC heavyweight title with a knockout of Randy Couture in 2008. He successfully defended the belt twice.
