Las Vegan wins design contest
Robert Krause's entry was selected by Las Vegas Motor Speedway to be the program cover for the Sept. 26 Las Vegas 350k NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race.
The design by Krause, a 26-year-old native of Las Vegas, was selected over 34 entries from as far away as New York. The digitally designed cover features NASCAR trucks surrounded by some of the city’s most popular icons.
"I wanted to incorporate the high stakes of winning in Las Vegas and the high stakes in winning a NASCAR truck race," said Krause, who works for Clark County Public Works. "I like entering a contest like the one at LVMS because it gives artists a certain topic to depict and lets the artist bring that topic to realization."
In addition to his artwork being featured on the cover of the souvenir program, Krause will be a VIP guest and receive four suite and Neon Garage passes for the truck race. He also will be photographed with the race winner in victory lane.
"I’m honored to have been chosen as the winner," he said. "I’m looking forward to an eventful and exciting truck race. I hope that this opportunity may lead to further art projects in my career."
