Nevada Fishing Report
■ LAKE MEAD — Fishing out of Boulder Harbor has been good for stripers in the 3- to 4-pound range, but anglers have been catching the fish throughout the reservoir. Anglers found good action for striped bass near Hatchery Cove over the weekend. Most of the fish were in the 2-pound range, though one fish pushed the scales past 4½ pounds. Don’t overlook the Overton Arm. Live shad are the preferred striper bait, though frozen anchovies have been catching the fish. Threadfin and gizzard shad can be found in the Government Wash and Las Vegas Wash.
■ LAKE MOHAVE — Mohave has been giving up good stripers. One lucky shore angler reeled in a 22-pound fish while fishing with anchovies. Stripers are ranging from 3 pounds to more than 20 pounds.
■ LAUGHLIN — Striped bass fishing has been hit or miss down the river, though some anglers have been in the right spot at the right time. Anglers have been catching fish in the 2- to 4-pound range up near the dam, but the river has given up some fish pushing past 20 pounds. The fish are taking anchovies, but don’t overlook trout imitations.
■ LAS VEGAS URBAN PONDS — Trout have been hitting well at most of the ponds on mealworms and orange Power Eggs. Largemouth bass have been seen cruising the shallows following the spring spawn, but few have been taking baits. Channel catfish will be stocked sometime next week at Floyd Lamb, Sunset, Lorenzi and Boulder City ponds. The Nevada Department of Wildlife asks anglers to dispose of their unwanted fishing line in trash cans or fishing line receptacles.
■ KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA — Weather conditions have made fishing difficult for many anglers in recent weeks, but, with clearing skies, the trout bite has picked up. PowerBait, night crawlers, spinners and a variety of flies will catch the fish. The bass and crappie are spawning. Anglers report seeing some good fish, but none are biting yet. The NDOW is reminding anglers that Dacey Reservoir is restricted to the use of artificial lures only.
■ EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR — Shore fishing has been good this past week, with those using spinners doing better than those using traditional baits such as night crawlers. Gold Mepp’s spinners with red dots continue to be the most productive hardware. Stormy conditions have kept most boaters and float tubers off the water.
■ ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR — Fishing has been good this past week despite the rough weather. Rainbow trout are taking almost anything thrown at them, while the crappie have just begun to bite. The bass are spawning and are not inclined to bite right now.
