Nevada fishing report, Sept 17, 2015
• LAKE MEAD — Striper action using swimbaits has been productive this past week, with most of the fish in the 2- to 3-pound range. One angler did well following boils and landed a few smallmouth bass amongst the stripers. Channel cats also are hitting on cut anchovies and night crawlers in the coves.
• LAKE MOHAVE — According to contacts in Bullhead City, it's a mixed bite. You have to target your fish. While the stripers are on the small side, the coves in the evening are producing a lot. Largemouth bass are back in the weeds. Drop shotting a black worm always is a safe bet. For the smallmouth bass, try your favorite crank bait or a count down in a shad color.
• LAUGHLIN — Striper and catfish action has been good this past week, with several large catfish and stripers taking cut anchovies.
• LAS VEGAS URBAN PONDS — Bluegill and largemouth bass remain the ticket at most of the ponds. Lorenzi Park and Floyd Lamb Park have been fishing well, with one person catching and releasing two largemouth that weighed 1½ and 2½ pounds. Mealworms and night crawlers have been catching bluegill, and lures are taking bass.
• KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA — Fall fishing can be good at the reservoirs on this Nye County destination. As water temperatures begin to cool, aquatic vegetation begins to clear, and the trout become more active. Largemouth bass often remain active into early October.
• EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR — Trout fishing continues to improve with cooler water temperatures. The fish are taking night crawlers, PowerBait and small spinners, as well as olive Woolly Buggers. Every now and again, someone catches a nice largemouth bass. A lucky fisherman caught and released a 6½-pound bass over the Labor Day weekend.
• ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR — Trout, crappie and bass action has been good this past week. The trout primarily are taking night crawlers and PowerBait. Crappie and bass are hitting jigs and lures.
