Tiger Woods is the 7-4 favorite to win the U.S. Open, which begins Thursday at Bethpage State Park’s Black course in New York, where Woods was the winner in 2002.

Wranglers’ Gulutzan takes step up

Glen Gulutzan, the only coach in the six-year history of the ECHL’s Las Vegas Wranglers, left the team Tuesday to become head coach of the expansion Texas Stars of the American Hockey League. The franchise, located in Austin, will be the AHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars.
