Playoff ticket prices rising to see Royals

With the Kansas City Royals playing in the postseason for the first time in 29 years, tickets for the American League Division Series are a hot item.

Prices for Game 3 of the ALDS against the Los Angeles Angels soared to an average of $211 on Thursday, according to StubHub. And the prices keep rising.

Ticket prices for the game in Kansas City are higher than in any other city hosting a playoff game this year.

The high prices are the result of the demand for tickets to see the Royals in their first playoff game since 1985.

The Royals reached the ALDS with a 9-3 victory in 12 innings on Tuesday over the Oakland Athletics in the AL wild-card game. They open the series with the Angels on Thursday night in Anaheim, Calif.
