Sewald hurls Gorman to fourth win in Utah tournament

Paul Sewald pitched a six-hit shutout to lead Bishop Gorman's baseball team to a 6-0 win over American Fork (Utah) on Saturday in St. George, Utah.
Gorman finished 4-0 in the Dixie Tournament.
Sewald struck out four and walked one. Erik Van Meetren and John Field each went 3-for-4 for Gorman. John Rickard added two hits, including a home run, for the Gaels.
• Bishop Gorman 10, Mountain Crest (Utah) 2 -- At St. George, Utah, Neil Lawhorn was 3-for-4 with two RBIs to lead the Gaels.
R.J. Santigate was 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBIs, and Stephen Manthei and Matt Hall combined on a two-hitter.
• Douglas 6, Las Vegas 4 -- At Las Vegas, the Tigers scored twice in the top of the 10th to down the Wildcats.
Tanner Thomas singled home the go-ahead run, and Douglas added another run on an error in the 10th.
Las Vegas rallied to tie the score with two outs in the bottom of the seventh. Wes Grass doubled and scored on a double by Bryce Harper to force extra innings.
Bryan Harper was 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs for Las Vegas. Grass, Bryce Harper and Marvin Campbell each added two hits for the Wildcats.
• Silverado 10, Chaparral 0 -- At Silverado, Trevor Kirk slugged a two-run home run to help the Skyhawks to a five-inning win.
Pierce Belaustegui, Justin Rainville and Tanner Dushane each had two hits for Silverado.
Cody Bostick allowed two hits in four innings with four strikeouts to get the win.
• Legacy 14, Parowan (Utah) 4 -- At Legacy, Andres Ortiz and Joey Lauria each went 3-for-3 to lead the Longhorns to a six-inning win.
Ortiz scored three runs, and Lauria had two doubles and three RBIs. Freshman Dylan Baumgarte was 2-for-3 with three runs for Legacy.
• Pahrump Valley 12-14, Canyon Springs 1-2 -- At Canyon Springs, Iggy Wagner was 7-for-8 with five runs, four RBIs and three stolen bases to lead the Trojans to a sweep.
Ethan Wald was 5-for-6 with five RBIs for Pahrump.
• Douglas 19, Foothill 11 -- At Foothill, the Falcons led 9-1 after two innings but didn't hold on.
Mike Gibellina was 3-for-3 with three RBIs for Foothill.
• Parowan (Utah) 15, Western 7 -- At Western, Parowan had 20 hits en route to the win.
• Mountain View 19, Carlin 11 -- At Mountain View, Craig Sacra was 4-for-4 with four RBIs and four runs as the Saints beat the Railroaders in the championship game of the Mountain View Spring Slam.
Sacra tripled twice to highlight a 10-run fourth inning.
Evan Entler was 4-for-4 with four RBIs, and Tanner Peterson was 3-for-3 with three RBIs for Mountain View.
• Mountain View 10, Lake Mead 0 -- At Mountain View, Sacra pitched a one-hitter, striking out seven, for the Saints.
Sacra also went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
• Carlin 15, Pahrump Valley JV 5 -- At Mountain View, Chris Hyatt and Anthony Matosich each had four hits to lead the Railroaders.
• Lake Mead 12, Pahrump Valley JV 8 -- At Mountain View, Zach Mullins tripled following by a double by Dallas Erickson to highlight a six-run third for the Eagles.
SOFTBALL
• Green Valley 2, Bonanza 1 -- At Bonanza, Katie Stewart pitched a five-hitter as the Gators edged the Bengals.
Stewart struck out six. Ali Bodnar hit a solo home run in the sixth inning for the Gators.
Bonanza pitcher Sam Snyder allowed five hits and struck out eight.
• Spring Valley 4, Dixie (Utah) 3 -- At Spring Valley, Sarah Stueber doubled and drove in two runs to help the Grizzlies edge the Flyers.
Spring Valley's Jasmine Wilson was 2-for-2 with a triple, and Lauren Maloney went 2-for-3 with a double for the Grizzlies.
• Village Christian (Calif.) 1, Faith Lutheran 0 -- At Faith Lutheran, Jenna Martin pitched a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts as Village Christian won the championship game of the Faith Lutheran Tournament.
• Faith Lutheran 6, Grace Brethren (Calif.) 5 -- At Faith Lutheran, Kelsey Hoover had two hits including a two-out RBI single that brought home Jessie Tracy with the winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning for the Crusaders.
Tracy had two hits, including a triple to set up Hoover's winning hit.
• Faith Lutheran 19, Lake Mead 0 -- At Faith Lutheran, Kellie Kersey and Jessie Tracy each went 2-for-2 with two runs to lead the Crusaders past the Eagles.
• Carlin 11, Mountain View 2 -- At Mountain View, the Railroaders used a seven-run second inning to down the Saints in the championship game of the Mountain View Spring Slam.
• Mountain View 4, Pahrump Valley 2 -- At Mountain View, the Saints scored two runs in the top of the seventh to down the Trojans.
Pitcher Valencia Casy went the distance to get the win.
• Carlin 13, Tonopah 0 -- At Mountain View, Sam Salisbury pitched a no-hitter as the Railroaders downed the Muckers.
• Tonopah 18, Pahrump Valley 12 -- At Mountain View, the Muckers had 24 hits and were helped by 10 Pahrump Valley errors.
