UNLV men’s golf team extends streak of NCAA regional bids
The UNLV men’s golf team learned Monday that it will open NCAA postseason play in Columbus, Ohio, on May 16, making its NCAA-record 25th consecutive trip to regionals.
The Rebels were seeded sixth in the 13-team, 54-hole regional, one of six that will be contested around the country. The top seed in Columbus is Mountain West champion New Mexico.
The top five teams from each regional advance to the NCAA Championships, beginning May 28 in Atlanta.
■ FOOTBALL — UNLV’s season opener at Minnesota will be televised on the Big Ten Network, on Cox Cable 312. The Aug. 29 game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. PDT.
It’s the Rebels’ first trip to Minnesota. The two teams opened last season at Sam Boyd Stadium, with the Golden Gophers winning 30-27 in triple overtime.
