5 San Jose State players to watch against UNLV

Five San Jose State football players to watch when UNLV plays the Spartans at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Sam Boyd Stadium:

1. Linebacker Frank Ginda, junior. Leads the nation with 14.6 tackles per game and had 16 on Saturday against Utah State. Last season, he led the Spartans with 99 tackles and 11.5 for loss and tied for the team high with five sacks.

2. Cornerback Andre Chachere, senior. On the Jim Thorpe Award and Bronko Nagurski Trophy watch lists, and was first-team All-Mountain West last season. Intercepted first pass of this season last weekend.

3. Kicker Bryce Crawford, junior. Has made 16 consecutive field goals, including all five this season, for the nation’s longest streak. Two of those makes this year were from beyond 50 yards. Is on the Lou Groza Award watch list.

4. Center Keoni Taylor, senior. On the Rimington Trophy watch list after starting at center the past two seasons. Part of an overall experienced offensive line with 146 combined starts.

5. Punter Michael Carrizosa, senior. Averages 44.1 yards and is on the Ray Guy Award watch list. His 43.4 career average is the best in San Jose State history.
