5 things to look for in UNLV vs. Fresno State

Five things to look for when UNLV's football team plays at Fresno State at 7:30 p.m. Friday:

1. UNLV quarterback Kurt Palandech's start. He struggled for much of Saturday's 33-27 overtime loss to San Jose State, but finished strong. He needs a more complete game, or Blake Decker might be called on from the sideline.

2. Decker's role. Don't be surprised if he plays even if Palandech does well. Coach Tony Sanchez likes to get both quarterbacks repetitions, and Decker will be needed at some point this season. Could even be this game.

3. The Rebels' offensive line. Fresno State gives up 211.2 yards rushing and 233.5 passing per game, but UNLV takes advantage of the Bulldogs' defensive shortcomings only if its offensive line does its job.

4. UNLV's killer instinct. This is a game the Rebels have to win, and if they get up early on Fresno State, they must remain aggressive and not let the Bulldogs have a chance to come back.

5. The Rebels' depth. UNLV's defense faded late the past two games because there aren't enough capable backups to spell the starters. If this game is tight in the fourth quarter, that could be a problem again for UNLV.
