January 31, 2014 - 10:42 pm
Justin Bernhardt scored two goals, Chad Nehring had a goal and two assists and Travis Fullerton stopped 47 shots as the Wranglers beat ECHL Western Conference-leading Ontario 5-2 on Friday before a sellout crowd of 7,786 at Orleans Arena.
Las Vegas (11-24-4, 26 points) snapped a four-game losing streak while winning for only the third time in 18 games.
Bernhardt scored at the 10:06 mark to put the Wranglers ahead 1-0, and the center made it 4-0 in the opening minute of the third.
Adam Huxley had a goal and an assist for Las Vegas, and Adam Hughesman added his team-leading 12th goal.
The Wranglers will host the Reign (28-9-5, 61 points) again at 7:05 p.m. today in the second of seven home games in 10 days. The game will be televised on KVMY, Cox Cable Channel 12.
Also, Wranglers president Billy Johnson had hoped to have an agreement in place by Friday to secure a new venue for the ECHL franchise for next season, but he said he’s now planning to get a deal done by Wednesday, which is the league deadline.
The team is still working with three possible venues, all of which Johnson said are affiliated with a hotel-casino and are not stand-alone structures.
