Today, Aliante will host its fourth annual Trails & Tails event to benefit Lied Animal Shelter. It will be held in the master-planned community’s 20-acre Nature Discovery Park, 2627 Nature Park Drive, and include a 5-K run, a 1-mile Doggie Stroll, pet adoptions, entertainment and giveaways.
The Doggie Stroll will be held at 8 a.m. At 8:30 a.m. the run will take off from the park and follow the Aliante trail system.
Immediately following the races, Lied Animal Shelter will hold a pet adoption in the park. Adoptable dogs representing a variety of breeds and ages will be brought from the shelter and be available (on a first-come, first-served basis) to people participating in the Doggie Stroll and do not have a dog to accompany them. Those who decide to adopt a dog can bring their pet home the same day. All adoptable dogs from the shelter are spayed and neutered, have microchips and are current on their shots for the next year.
Awards will be given to the run’s overall male and female participants, as well as first-, second- and third-place runners in each age division. The Doggie Stroll will be noncompetitive.
An entry fee of $30 will be charged for the run and 1-mile Doggie Stroll. Two-legged participants will receive T-shirts and goodie bags, while four-legged participants will receive bandanas. All net proceeds will be donated to Lied Animal Shelter. Participants also will be automatically entered in drawings for a variety of prizes.
