Ambassador down — and Obama’s disturbing reaction
October 25, 2012 - 8:29 am
As the White House continues to obfuscate about who knew what when the night our ambassador died in a terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya, a very disturbing storyline is beginning to emerge:
State Department e-mail, coupled with drone surveillance, indicate that President Obama watched in real time as our consulate in Benghazi fell and for eight hours -- eight hours! -- two Navy SEALs held down the consulate annex in a machine gun nest until they were overrun and murdered. Help was only a few hundred miles away, but in all that time, the White House sent no backup or rescue team.
Then, after the men were dead, President Obama boarded Air Force One to give a meaningless campaign speech in Las Vegas without ever meeting face-to-face with the National Security Council.
If President Obama doesn't want the American people to think that is exactly what happened, he should stop stonewalling and hold a press conference today, letting reporters ask him questions directly. The fact he has not done that to date tells me that he does, indeed, have something very serious to hide.
The fog of war in this case seems to be coming from the White House only.
