What: The Nevada Open Road Challenge takes place in Ely. The international event is recognized by the Guinness World Book of Records and takes place every May and September. Nevada closes down 90 miles of state Route 318 and more than 200 drivers from around the world participate. Through Sunday.

Sept. 24
What: NASCAR Camping World Series driver autograph session, which serves as a prelude to the Smith's 350 Camping World Truck Series race that takes place Sept. 25 at Las Vegas motor Speedway. Drivers scheduled to participate include Todd Bodine, Johnny Sauter, David Starr, Jeffrey Earnhardt and others. First 200 fans will receive free tickets to the race. Tickets to Smith's 350 are now on sale through the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
