Berkley heads to Northern Nevada again

Las Vegas-based Democratic Rep. Shelley Berkley ventures again to Northern Nevada this weekend as she ponders a run for U.S. Senate.

Berkley has been announced as the keynote speaker at the Churchill County Democrats' annual Jefferson-Jackson dinner Friday evening in Fallon.

The lawmaker's trip coincides with a meeting of the Nevada State Democratic Party on Saturday in Reno. Berkley is scheduled to make an appearance at a seminar being held in conjunction with the meeting at the University of Nevada, Reno.

She also will speak at a luncheon for Young Democrats, her office confirmed, and also will meet with supporters and strategists.

This marks Berkley's second announced trip to Northern Nevada as she scouts prospects for a U.S. Senate bid. With Democrats eager to begin organizing, Berkley has said she would declare her intentions by the summer.

Rep. Dean Heller, R-Nev., announced his candidacy last week for the seat being vacated by Republican Sen. John Ensign
