Rep. Shelley Berkley is organizing pushback to a resolution introduced in the House this week that aims to salvage the Yucca Mountain program.
On Wednesday, a resolution introduced by a group of Washington state and South Carolina lawmakers called on the Obama administration to halt the termination of the proposed Nevada repository.
On Thursday night, Berkley, D-Nev., began working the House floor during votes, passing out a letter urging Democrats to stick with Obama on this one.
Reps. Dina Titus, D-Nev., and Jim Matheson, D-Utah, also signed the letter.
"Advocates of the Yucca Mountain boondoggle are determined to challenge the president’s policies and judgment," said the letter that lists all the reasons Berkley believes the project is a bad idea.
