Bloomingdale’s apologizes for ‘inappropriate’ ad in holiday catalog

A new holiday fiasco has emerged to take the spotlight away from Starbucks and their non-Christmas-themed red cups. Bloomingdale's has released an advertisement in their holiday catalog that some are saying "encourages date rape."

Released in the Bloomingdale's holiday catalog, the ad, which is meant to advertise clothes by Rebecca Minkoff, shows a woman looking away as a man stares at her. In between the man and the woman is the text, "Spike your best friend's egg nog when they're not looking."

As a result, Bloomingdale's has since released an apology for what many called a highly inappropriate advertisement.

“Rape culture at its finest. Well done, . You are garbage," one woman wrote on Twitter, according to Fortune.

A brand representative said, "In reflection of recent feedback, the copy we used in our recent catalog was inappropriate and in poor taste. Bloomingdale's sincerely apologizes for this error in judgment."
