Boise woman accused of giving IV to drunk teen

BOISE, Idaho — Law enforcement officers say a southwestern Idaho woman gave a teenage girl an IV instead of seeking medical attention after she passed out from drinking too much alcohol.

The Ada County Sheriff’s office says 37-year-old Jennifer Phippen was charged Friday with two counts of felony injury to child and is being held on a $300,000 bond.

Deputies say the 14-year-old and several other teens were at a birthday party at Phippen’s home last month when the girl lost consciousness after drinking several shots of alcohol.

Investigators say they believe that instead of calling the girl’s parents or an ambulance, Phippen gave the girl intravenous fluid and tried to wake her by putting her in the shower.

The girl eventually woke up and walked home.
