A Carson City boy was taken to the emergency room after being pricked by an apparent drug needle that was hidden inside a teddy bear on his school playground.
The first-grader picked up the stuffed bear from a trash can on the playground of Mark Twain Elementary School. Authorities say the child was pricked by one of five syringes that was hidden inside the bear, CBS News reports.
The syringes have tested positive for methamphetamine and are undergoing further testing to see if they carried any communicable diseases.
Along with the needle-filled teddy bear, deputies also discovered alcohol containers.
Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said the school's playground is used by the public through an agreement with the Carson City Parks and Recreation Department.
According to Furlong, the police department is continuing to investigate the incident.
