Cascade by Phillips Homes debuts at Mountain’s Edge
February 3, 2008 - 10:00 pm
The selection of floor plans and model homes at Mountain's Edge, a new master-planned community in the southwestern valley, was expanded by the grand opening of Cascade by Phillips Homes. The builder recently opened the doors to three model homes in the community.
The only guard-gated neighborhood in the master plan, Cascade offers model homes ranging from 3,482 to 3,984 square feet. Homes start in the low $500,000s and allow buyers a range of flexibility in design, with options including porches, balconies, theater rooms, additional master suites and fireplaces.
"We are excited about the debut of Phillips Homes in Mountain's Edge and the ability to offer spacious homes on large home sites to our home buyers," said Deonna Stocker, manager of the Home Search Café at Mountain's Edge.
Cascade by Phillips Homes features three models -- The Sutherland, The Yosemite and The Victoria.
The two-story, 3,482-square-foot Sutherland design comes with four bedrooms and three baths plus den, bonus room and three-car garage. Home buyers can customize the floor plan with options such as a deck/patio, porch, balcony, theater room/bonus room and fireplaces. Additions can add up to 228 square feet to the home.
The Yosemite model includes four bedrooms, three baths, den, great room, bonus room and three-car garage within 3,610 square feet. The two-story home can be customized with options including an additional master suite and up to two more bedrooms.
With 3,984 square feet, The Victoria is Cascade's largest floor plan. The two-story home has four bedrooms, 31/2 baths, den, master retreat, bonus room and three-car garage. Home buyers can add features such as a deck/patio, porch, balcony, theater room, game room and fifth bedroom.
Cascade's guard-gated entrance is expected to be fully operational by this weekend, with a guard on duty 24 hours a day. The neighborhood has 68 home sites, including some of the largest lots in Mountain's Edge.
With the addition of Cascade, the total number of model homes available for touring at Mountain's Edge exceeds 150. The 3,500-acre master-planned community, located at Blue Diamond Road and Buffalo Drive, has more than 200 floor plans.
One of the highlights in the community is the Desert Demonstration Garden. Located behind the Home Search Café, the garden was built as a resource center to teach residents about drought-tolerant plant materials that can be used to create an attractive landscape.
The commitment to water conservation extends throughout the community's landscape and into the builders' design guidelines, which include the elimination of turf from front yards in favor of drought-tolerant landscaping. Minimal use of turf will be found at parks and schools, according to officials of Focus Property, the master plan's developer.
The water-saving measures at Mountain's Edge have been evaluated by the Southern Nevada Water Authority, which has determined that when compared to a conventional master-planned communities of similar size, the community will save an average of more than 200 million gallons per year, the developer said.
Exploration Park is the first of six parks planned for the master-planned community. The most visible feature in the area is a Western Theme Park that includes an Old West village. For residents interested in hikes and scenic walks, Exploration Peak is Nevada's first mountain park, with several trails that lead to the top of 2,846-foot Exploration Peak. The hiking trails were designed for people of all ages, and include ramadas at two different stages to serves as a shady rest area.
When complete, the community will have four elementary schools -- one of which is already open and a second that is under construction -- two middle schools and a high school. The community is planned to have a fire station, shopping centers, restaurants and commercial office space.
