Celebrations planned for season

The master-planned communities of Mountain's Edge and Providence are holding events in October.

The fall event season at Mountain's Edge begins with the return of the American Heart Association's Heart Walk Oct. 10. Providence's fall event schedule will begin by holding its third Annual Red Apple Days Oct. 17.

"Our fall events schedule has become a much anticipated source of fun for residents of Mountain's Edge and Providence, with great activities offered that raise funds for schools and community service organizations," said Deonna Stocker, manager of the Home Search Café at Mountain's Edge and Providence's information center.

"These events also are excellent opportunities for people to come out and see the quality of life enjoyed by the residents of each of the communities."

Fall events continue at Mountain's Edge with the community's Fall Festival, which will be held Oct. 24 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the 3,500-acre master-planned community's Exploration Park located on Buffalo Road, just south of Blue Diamond Parkway.

Mountain's Edge Fall Festival participants are invited to wear Halloween costumes and join the students and faculty from both William Wright and Carolyn S. Reedom Elementary schools for games, pumpkin painting, a haunted mansion, haunted fire trucks and snacks.

The Fall Festival includes onsite photography provided by Cache Media Works. There will be opportunities for photographs without an appointment as well as portrait sittings to be scheduled in advance by calling 953-0471. A portion of the photography funds will benefit both schools.

There is no entry fee into the Fall Festival, but it is suggested that those attending the event bring a gently used book or a canned good. Books will be donated to Goodwill and canned goods will be delivered to a local nonprofit organization in support of the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.

Located in northwestern Las Vegas, Providence's Red Apple Days will be held at the Providence Promenade and will feature a fresh produce market with apples and other foods, along with game booths and activities for the kids.

In addition to Red Apple Days, Providence will host a Halloween event for residents that features an early evening of trick or treating on the Promenade Oct. 30 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Local businesses will be on hand to provide candy, a photo booth to take pictures of children in their costumes, as well as trick or treating in a safe and friendly environment.

Providence was certified by Robert Charles Lesser & Co., an independent real estate advisory firm, as the No. 4 selling master-planned community in the United States.

When completed, Providence will be comprised of about 7,500 homes. Providence is planned to have two community parks, one linear park and miles of trails systems. Also, the community will have one additional elementary school and one middle school, in addition to the existing high schools in the surrounding area.

Participating homebuilders at Mountain's Edge and Providence include Amstar Homes, Beazer Homes, Harmony Homes, KB Home, Lennar, Meritage Homes, Pardee Homes, Pulte Homes, Richmond American Homes, Ryland Homes and Warmington Homes Nevada.

To learn more about Providence, visit the community's information center, which resembles an old-fashioned soda shop with wood siding and a wraparound porch. It is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
