Centennial Mazda celebrates anniversary, awards prizes

Opening most any kind of business during a sagging economy is tough, especially in the car business, but Centennial Mazda has risen to become one of the top dealerships in less than a year's time.

Located at 6525 Centennial Center Blvd. in the northwest valley, the dealership celebrated its first year recently with a ribbon cutting ceremony that included VIPs, along with thousands of dollars in giveaways.

The list of VIPs included Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman, who lauded the dealership and its owners for forging ahead during what he referred to as the worst recession in the history of Nevada.

"It takes a lot of guts to do something like this," Goodman said. "The owners here are making a lot of people happy, especially since 100 people are employed at Centennial Mazda, and there's no reason at all why this will not be a great success."

Among the big prize winners was Tom Minden who won a 2011 Mazda 6.

"I think it's really nice," said Minden. "I sure didn't expect to win it. This is great."

Additional prizes were supplied by Thermo Fluids, MOC Products, Kiki Electrical, Prudential Overall Supply, Collision Authority, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Maxum Petroleum, Drive N Gear, Basics Etc. Dealer Tire, Geiger Promotional Services and Factory Motor Parts.

A total of $1,400 in raffle prizes were given away, plus the Mazda 6 which had a sticker price of about $24,000.

Riette Dawson, customer-service manager for the dealership, orchestrated the event.

"The event went very well," Dawson said. "We had a great turnout."

"This anniversary event exceeded our expectations in every possible way from service to sales and everything in between even during a bad economy," said General Manager Jan Sheinfeld. "We have a very dedicated staff that has worked together to make this happen."
