YMCA OFFERS TWO WEEKS FREE
In an effort to remove barriers and help everyone in the community get moving, the YMCA of Southern Nevada is offering its Try the Y promotion to prospective members through Feb. 24.
Southern Nevadans can "discover, play and be active" for two weeks free at the organization's four locations, including its Centennial Hills site, 6601 N. Buffalo Drive.
The 98,000-square-foot recreation center has two seasonal outdoor pools, an indoor lap pool, an indoor therapy pool, two gymnasiums, a fitness center and studios, a kids' gym and an array of classes and fitness programs for all ages.

LAMB OF GOD LUTHERAN CHURCH
PLANS SCRAPBOOKING EVENT
The public is welcome to join the Lamb of God Lutheran Church Crafters for Christ group for a scrapbooking event planned for 6 p.m. to midnight Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Lamb of God Lutheran Church, 6220 N. Jones Blvd.
Tickets are $75, which includes dinner Friday, a continental breakfast and snacks Saturday and scrapbooking classes. Vendors are to be in attendance to sell supplies.

STAR PARTY PLANNED AT RED ROCK CANYON
The Las Vegas Astronomical Society plans to return to Red Rock Canyon for Astronomy in the Park at 4:30 p.m. Saturday. The evening is set to begin with the presentation "Getting Started in Astronomy," followed by a telescope viewing of the moon and Jupiter just after sunset and deep-sky viewing of galaxies, nebulae and star clusters as the sky darkens.
A laser-guided "What's Up Tonight" tour of the night sky is set to begin around 6:30 p.m. Americans with Disabilities Act parking and access to video-assisted viewing of the night sky is available.

RED ROCK CANYON HOURS CHANGE
The Bureau of Land Management advises residents that the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area Visitor Center and Scenic Loop Drive have different hours for the remainder of the month. Scenic Loop Drive will be open from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the Visitor Center from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

SoBe Ice Arena offering free skate night
In honor of National Skating Month, SoBe Ice Arena, 2400 N. Rancho Drive, is encouraging guests to get on the ice with free skate rentals and group lessons for skaters of all ability levels from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Jan. 30. Ages 3 or older are encouraged to participate, and games and prizes will be awarded to participants. Reservations are not necessary. Public skate is normally $6.50, and skate rental is $3. A workshop is planned for aspiring entrepreneurs from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the Rainbow Library, 3150 N. Buffalo Drive.
