PROVIDENCE TO CELEBRATE
OPENING OF KNICKERBOCKER PARK
A grand opening celebration is planned for 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the newly completed Knickerbocker Park, 10695 Dorrell Lane, in the Providence master-planned community. The public is welcome to the free family event.
Festivities are to include entertainment by Tony Marques, a country music performer; refreshments; brief remarks by park development principals; and fireworks by Pyrotecnico when the sun goes down. There also is a ceremonial first pitch and a fast-pitch contest between the new Providence mascot, who will be announced, and Cosmo, the Las Vegas 51s' mascot.
The $2.2 million Knickerbocker Park was built by the Providence Master Homeowners Association in collaboration with residents, the Providence Park Committee, the city of Las Vegas and Focus Property Group, developer of the Providence master plan.
The 15-acre park includes play areas for 2- to 5-year-olds and 5- to 12-year-olds, a swing set, a dog park with small and large dog areas, a splash pad, a youth baseball field, a multi-use events field, a jogging path with exercise stations and picnic areas.
