CENTENNIAL HILLS HOSPITAL OFFERS OUTPATIENT THERAPY
Centennial Hills Hospital opened its Outpatient Therapy Center on Jan. 7 at 6850 N. Durango Drive, Suite 201. The following services are available: physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, neurological rehabilitation, orthopedic rehabilitation, pulmonary rehabilitation, sports medicine and spine rehabilitation.
The 3,700-square-foot center offers a variety of equipment and techniques to to regain strength, re-educate muscles, decrease inflammation, reduce pain and increase their endurance, as well as education on pulmonary disease management and breathing techniques.

IRON MOUNTAIN RANCH NEIGHBORHOOD CLEANUP
Ward 6 City Councilman Steve Ross and Republic Services plan to co-sponsor a neighborhood cleanup north of Kitty Ward Elementary School, 5555 Horse Drive, on Jan. 23. The all-day cleanup will include the area north of Horse Drive to Iron Mountain Road, from Jones Boulevard to Bradley Road.
Neighborhood residents are encouraged to get rid of unwanted items, trash and debris. Items should be placed in a tied bag if possible, with tree limbs and brush bundled in lengths of 6 feet or less.
Hazardous materials, such as dry or liquid chemicals, paints, oils, tires, batteries, railroad ties, medical waste, propane cylinders or compressed gases cannot be accepted. Appliances that contain Freon or other refrigerants, such as refrigerators, freezers, or home or auto air conditioners should be separated.

SNOWSHOE WEEKEND PLANNED
The Clark County Parks and Recreation Department plans to hold an annual snowshoe weekend Jan. 25 and 26 at Camp Lee Canyon, 6201 Lee Canyon Road, on Mount Charleston.
Participants will stay overnight in group cabins and use snowshoes to hike the Bristlecone Trail in and around the camp. Snowshoes will be provided to the first 20 to register. Food and bedding will not be provided. Cost is $25.

EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS WORKSHOP PLANNED
Centennial Hills Active Adult Center, 6601 N. Buffalo Drive, is set to host an emergency preparedness workshop for adults 50 or older at 10 a.m. Jan. 29. City Emergency Manager Carolyn Levering plans to join Ward 6 Councilman Steve Ross for a presentation on how plan for and react to emergencies. PRUNING CLASSES SCHEDULED AT ORCHARD
Horticulture expert Bob Morris is set to give fruit tree pruning classes from 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays and Tuesdays through January at the UNCE Orchard at UNLV’s Center for Urban Horticulture and Water Conservation, 4734 Horse Drive. A $5 donation is requested.
NATIONAL PARK SERVICE, BLM PLAN FEE-FREE DAYS FOR 2014
The National Park Service is offering six opportunities in 2014 to enjoy national parks without paying an entrance fee. Those dates are Jan. 20, Martin Luther King Jr. Day; Feb. 15–17, Presidents’ Day weekend; April 19 and 20, National Park Week’s opening weekend; Aug. 25, National Park Service birthday; Sept. 27, National Public Lands Day; and Nov. 11, Veterans Day Weekend.

LAS VEGAS SENIOR EXPO PLANNED
The Las Vegas Senior Expo, a community event targeting Southern Nevada seniors, baby boomers, families and caregivers, plans to hold its first 2014 event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 4 at the Fiesta Rancho, 2400 N. Rancho Drive.
Expo organizers hope the free event will provide a forum for local companies to showcase products and services to seniors.

LIBRARY TO HOST OBAMACARE WORKSHOP
The multipurpose room inside the Centennial Hills Library, 6711 N. Buffalo Drive, is set to host a workshop on the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Jan. 22.

An 11-member panel created to study shared services between Las Vegas’ and North Las Vegas’ municipal agencies meets every other Thursday at North Las Vegas City Hall or Las Vegas City Hall.

MOUNT CHARLESTON SEEKS SNOW PLAY VOLUNTEERS
The U.S. Forest Service is seeking volunteers to be a Snow Play Host on Mount Charleston. Every winter weekend, thousands of people flock to the mountains to play in the snow, and hosts will look to encourage visitors to have fun while reducing impact on the forest.
Hosts will also be asked provide roadside information about snow play opportunities and engage visitors at snow play sites.
Volunteers must be 18 or older and able to work outdoors in cold conditions. Hosts are expected to work weekends and holidays, with shifts of three to six hours, through March.
