CNN adds LV to its MO

Vegas has climbed another rung on the status ladder now that CNN thinks we’re worthy enough to justify our very own news bureau. In their expanding cable media-verse, CNN also plans bureaus in cities including Denver, Minneapolis, Orlando, Philadelphia and Seattle. In total, the news giant is doubling its regional reporting outposts from 10 to 20.
The staffs won’t be entirely comprised of traditional correspondents, but also “all-platform journalists” — whatever that is. Apparently, it’s a bunch of semireporters equipped with laptops, cameras and online editing doodads to supplement the efforts of the pros. It’s a pretty prissy term for those of us whose job boils down to being paid gossips — going out in the world, finding stuff out, then coming back and telling you about it.
But why quibble when we can revel? Praise be to the press gods that we’re now part of Ted “Mouth of the South” Turner’s globally extended family. And in celebration of gaining Larry King as the big bro we’ve always secretly wanted, Vegas Voice is declaring next week Tacky Colorful Suspenders Week.
  Or is that an oxymoron?
