Before becoming officers, Metropolitan Police Department Academy recruits in the Las Vegas Valley are subjected to months of training. Before even being considered, they must pass written and physical fitness exams, drug tests, background checks and psychological exams. Once in the six-month program, recruits trained to be prepared for the worst, when seconds count and the difference could mean life or death.
