Dealerships are all Goodie Two Shoes

Centennial GMC Buick and Centennial Mazda, 6525 Centennial Center Blvd., and Planet Mazda, 6950 W. Sahara Ave., are seeking cash donations to help the Goodie Two Shoes Foundation.

The dealerships along with the Silverton at 3333 Blue Diamond Road and Beasley Broadcasting Las Vegas, operators of KCYE, KDWN, KKLZ, KOAS and KVGS radio stations are all partnering to help children in need.

For each donation, the dealerships will give donors a coupon for matching free play at the Silverton. Donations of $25 will receive a two-for-one buffet coupon for the Silverton, in addition to the free play. The event will be capped off with Mike O’Brian from KKLZ radio broadcasting live from the dealerships on Dec. 21. Santa will be at the dealerships, giving candy to children.

Goodie Two Shoes visits selected schools two to three times each month during the school year and outfits about 400 children with new shoes at each event, with the goal of reaching 10,000 Southern Nevada children in need each year.

Goodie Two Shoes Foundation has about 25 set distribution dates available each school year. Typically the group will book schools six months in advance.

The dealership is asking customers to give at least $5 toward helping a child in need to get a pair of shoes. The cost of outfitting children with new shoes and six pairs of socks, on-site at their school is about $25 per participant.

“Whatever you can afford to give, whether it’s just $5, will go a long way to help a child in need,” said Alex Estay, general manager for Centennial and Planet Mazda dealerships, said. “During the holidays, our stores like to take a little time out of our busy schedules and try and help someone in need.”

Goodie Two Shoes Foundation gives the children a choice and enables them to pick what they want. Goodie Two Shoes has been operating in the Las Vegas Valley since 2003. In 2009, the group was able to launch its 48-foot mobile programming unit (the shoe mobile), used to take shoes to the children.

Goodie Two Shoes was founded by Nikki and Tony Berti, which at its inception was a one-day event. Goodie Two Shoes serves children ages pre-kindergarten to 21, referred by schools, social service agencies and other nonprofit organizations dedicated to assisting children.
