Dining Pick of the Week: BabyStacks Cafe

BabyStacks Cafe

7090 N. Durango Drive at Elkhorn Road; 702-906-1946

BabyStacks is more than just pancakes — much more. But, oh, those pancakes. There are more than a dozen, including Red Velvet, banana, honey whole wheat, Rocky Road, chocolate chip, bacon, and lemon ricotta. There are also crepes (Nutella, sweet cream), French toast, four-egg omelets such as Cowboy (ham, peppers, onions, mushrooms, cheddar) and large skillets that are layered with potatoes, toppings, cheese and egg. Several breakfast favorites are ham or Spam with eggs, Cora’s Corned Beef Hash, and Portuguese sausage and eggs with pancakes or toast and steamed rice or potatoes. Breakfast specialties include Rick’s Adobo Fried Rice (a traditional Filipino dish with marinated, shredded chicken and rice in an omelet with green onions), spinach Benedict, huevos rancheros, biscuits and gravy, Spam scramble and Kalua pig Benedict with shredded cabbage. Popular sandwiches, served with fries or salad, are patty melt, club, turkey avocado, BLT (bacon, turkey, ham), Reuben, avocado chicken burger, grilled cheese, Cry Baby Jalapeno Burger and chili cheeseburger with fried egg. There is a kids’ menu and a senior breakfast for $6.95 with eggs and bacon or sausage, buttermilk pancakes and potatoes. Pancakes start at $4.50, and specialties begin at $7.95. BabyStacks Cafe is open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
