Dining Pick of the Week: Bacon Bar

Bacon Bar

3520 N. Rancho Drive at West Gowan Road; 702-645-8844

This is bacon nirvana, with bacon burgers, bacon cocktails, bacon rock candy and 22 flat-screen televisions (TVs being an important accompaniment to bacon). The Bacon Burger is a 60/40 ratio of beef to bacon patty on a croissant with horseradish, chive cheddar and caramelized onions. The Cure is maple-glazed, beer-braised bacon on a toasted baguette with fried egg and tomato jam. Other sandwiches include regular beef burgers (bleu, barbecue, jalapeno Swiss, teriyaki), BLT, turkey club and subs such as meatball parmigiana, French dip, Philly cheese, and tuna or chicken salad. Several entrees are spaghetti and meatballs, baby back ribs and gourmet pizzas starring white, four cheese, spicy Hawaiian with chopped jalapenos, and New York Delight with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms and onions. There are strombolis, calzones and Super Stuffed pizzas. Breakfast is served until 10 a.m. during the week and until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday with three-egg omelets, pancakes, French toast, chicken fried steak and eggs, and biscuits and gravy. Two desserts are Panookie, a warm chocolate chip cookie with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce, and Smorenookie, a warm chocolate chip brownie with graham cracker crust and roasted marshmallows. Hamburgers begin at $8.95, and pizzas start at $7.95. Bacon Bar is open 24 hours daily.
