Dining Pick of the Week: Corner Thai Kitchen

Corner Thai Kitchen

9575 W. Tropicana Ave. at South Fort Apache Road; 702-732-3888

This restaurant is in a corner, and it’s small. However, its chefs have been preparing award-winning dishes since 1952, so it makes no difference how large it is or where it’s located. It’s good Thai food. Specialties include garlic and pepper fish, spicy mint duck, sweet and sour fish, duck curry, steamed dumplings, duck spicy salad (pineapple, raisins, sweet chili oil, tomato, cashews), shrimp roll and spicy mint century egg. Featured entrees are Catfish Delight (sweet and spicy curry sauce, lime leaf), Kung Pao, spicy eggplant with choice of meat, pad pak (mixed veggies with chicken, pork or beef) and cashew chicken. Several salads are beef, papaya, silver noodle and Crying Tiger Beef with hot and sour sauce. Popular soups are tom yum, vegetable, beef noodle, egg drop, po-tak (seafood), tofu with ground chicken and wor wonton with chicken, barbecue pork, squid, shrimp and veggies. There are curry, rice and noodle dishes (pad Thai, chow mein, pad kea mow, crab or pineapple fried rice) and appetizers such as Thai egg rolls, fried tofu and chicken or beef satay. Lunch specials are served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Entrees start at $8.95. Corner Thai Kitchen is open from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. daily.
