PICK OF THE WEEK:
MOCHA JOE
117 S. Water St. at Army Street, Henderson, 792-3600
Mocha Joe is right in the heart of downtown Henderson and has become a gathering place for locals and business people. The interior is a large, comfortable room, where customers can be found reading the paper, discussing a good book or watching television. There's more to Mocha Joe than just cappucinos, lattes, smoothies, frappuccinos or a good, hot cup of joe. There's also food. The signature French chicken sandwich is grilled chicken with cucumber-mint relish, Swiss and sun-dried tomatoes on unsweetened almond French toast. Other sandwiches include chicken gyro, Southwest tuna salad with roasted corn and red peppers on baguette, ham and Swiss on croissant and the vegan grilled veggie pita with red and yellow peppers, zucchini, summer squash, eggplant and lettuce. Among the daily quiches are smoked salmon with Swiss, quiche Lorraine and the veggie with spinach and mushrooms. There are bagels with cream cheese, assorted loaf cakes, carrot cake and cookies. Besides the many coffees, the restaurant serves Luna Roasters Gourmet Teas. Sandwiches begin at $4.50, and all quiches are $4.75. Mocha Joe is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday through Monday.
