Dining Pick of the Week: Something’s Brewing Cafe

PICK OF THE WEEK:

SOMETHING'S BREWING CAFE

3100 S. Durango Drive at Desert Inn Road, 702-992-0900

For close to 20 years, what's been brewing at Something's Brewing Cafe has been the drinks, especially coffee made with freshly roasted organic beans. Enjoy a cafe au lait, cappuccino, cafe Americano, latte, espresso or regular coffee while relaxing in a cozy, comfortable atmosphere. Smoothies are also popular and feature Strawberry Blonde (bananas, strawberries, orange juice, honey), Pina Colada, Peanut Butter Cup, Berry Cobbler (bananas, mixed berries, apple juice, almond milk, cinnamon) and Green Goddess (bananas, mixed berries, baby kale, spinach, agave nectar, coconut milk). Among the gourmet sandwiches, named after local casinos, are Cosmopolitan (lean pastrami, Swiss), the Wynn (organic baby spinach, alfalfa sprouts, avocado, roma tomatoes, English cucumbers and purple onion on ciabatta), the Bellagio (grilled chicken breast, provolone, artichoke hearts), Circus Circus (turkey, pepperjack cheese) and Encore (Sonoma chicken salad on croissant). Popular salads are Cobb, Asian chicken, Caesar and Hearts of Palm with organic spring mix, avocado, hearts of palm, chickpeas, sweet bell pepper, feta and toasted pine nuts with herbed vinaigrette. Sandwiches begin at $7. Something's Brewing is open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. - Jack Bulavsky
