Filippo Candio of Italy is the new chip leader

We have a new chip leader in the $10,000 buy-in No Limit Hold’em World Championship event at the World Series of Poker.
Filippo Candio of Italy called all-in and pushed more than 12 million in chips into a pot that showed a 5-6-6 on the board. Chip leader Joseph Cheong of La Mirada, Calif., immediately called and turned over a pair of aces.
Candio had a 7 and a 5 off-suit and was a distinct underdog. He left the ESPN feature table in dispair and hid behind press row to await the final two cards.
The turn card was a 4 and river provided the 8 for his much-needed straight.
Candio began an emotional celebration, running and jumping around and embracing with a friend while shouting in Italian. Cheong counted out the chips to be sent over to Candio. He was knocked below 10 million and into 11th place while Candio jumped to a 27 million and is the new chip leader.
His supporters comforted Cheong.
Meanwhile, Patrick Eskandar of Ladera Ranch, Calif., was eliminated in 20th place and Redmond Lee of London, England was eliminated in 21st place. Both players earned $317,161.
