Florida Democrat says super-rich can spend their tax cuts in Las Vegas

Florida Democrat Alan Grayson has a lot of ideas for what wealthy Americans can do with big tax breaks that he said Republicans want to hand them instead of helping the middle class -- including a trip to Vegas, baby.

In the latest in a running series of U.S. House speeches on “what the rich are going to do with the tax cuts,” Grayson suggested the $83,347 tax benefit for "the rich, the idle rich, the high and mighty, the ruling class" could pay for a two-night stay at the Hugh Hefner sky villa at the Palms Casino.

The cost, he said, would come to $80,000 – leaving  enough change to tip the bellman.

The video clip can be seen here.

The free publicity for Las Vegas will be short lived. Grayson lost his re-election bid earlier this month.

A number of tax cuts approved a decade ago are set to expire at the end of the year. A majority of Republicans want to make the tax cuts permanent for Americans of all levels of income, while the majority of Democrats favor extending tax cuts that go to the middle class, while allowing them to expire for the wealthy.
