Foreclosure help session Saturday

Nevada homeowners seeking modifications to their mortgages can attend a workshop Saturday at the East Las Vegas Community Center, according to the office of Sen. Harry Reid.

HUD-approved counselors and representatives of Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Chase and CitiMortgage will be present.

The workshop is being organized by Reid, who calls it a "foreclosure prevention clinic." It will be held from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the community center at 250 North Eastern Avenue.

Reid's office said an RSVP to the April 23 session is required. Phone 702-388-5020 or email foreclosureprevention_reid@reid.senate.gov

Further, homeowners should bring the following documents if they plan to request mortgage assistance:

-- Copies of pay stubs for the immediate past two months.

-- Copies of bank statements for the immediate past two months.

-- If you are self-employed: the most recent Profit and Loss Statement and a copy of the last full tax return with all schedules.

-- Letter of explanation of the hardship that you are currently experiencing.

-- Signed 2009 and 2010 tax returns.
