Former First lady comes out in support of Obama

President Barack Obama has an unlikely supporter for his planned speech to schoolchildren today, former first lady and former teacher Laura Bush.

According to the Associated Press Bush was asked about the upcoming speech and said, "There's a place for the president of the United States to talk to school children and encourage school children."

Many Republicans have been critical of the planned speech, suggesting Obama is out to corrupt children with a socialist agenda.

But the wife of President George W. Bush also defended the critics, some of whom have said parents should be able to pull their kids out of class during the talk.

"That certainly is the right of parents to choose what they want their children to hear in school," she said.
