Free ice cream at Providence
September 29, 2012 - 1:05 am
How much ice cream can you eat? Find out Sunday during the Sunny 106.5 Ice Cream Sunday at The Promenade Park inside the Providence master-planned community in northwest Las Vegas.
Free ice cream and activities for the whole family will be featured from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Meadow Gold will provide the frozen treats. For those up to more of a challenge, ice cream-eating contests will be hosted by the Providence Master Homeowners Association. Prizes will be awarded to children and adults.
Meadow Gold has shared a few fun facts about its products and the black and white-spotted Holstein cows that produce the milk.
n A dairy cow drinks 67 quarts of water daily - about a bathtub full.
n A cow produces 90 glasses of milk a day, and 200,000 in a lifetime.
n All cows are females. Bulls are male.
n A cow has four stomachs - probably why she is always hungry.
n Kids, ages 2 to 8, should have three servings of milk daily to help teeth and bones grow strong.
n Children 9 to 18 should have four servings of milk or milk products daily.
n It takes 29 cups of milk to make one pound of butter.
Other activities during Ice Cream Sunday include bounce houses, clowns, games, face painting, balloon animals, booths and displayed cars from Planet Hyundai.
The nonprofit Spread the Word Nevada also will collect new and gently used books for its statewide children's literacy efforts.
"We're excited to again host the Sunny 106.5 Ice Cream Sunday and help support Spread the Word Nevada's mission of providing books to underprivileged children," said Brandon Exline, Capital Consultants Management Corp., community manager for the Providence Master Homeowners Association. "Great events like this allow us to showcase the wide array of activities we offer for our residents, and provide an excellent opportunity for the rest of the Las Vegas community to come here, learn about us and explore the great neighborhoods our builders are creating."
The event is presented by Sunny 106.5 FM, the Providence master-planned community and Providence Master Homeowners Association, Meadow Gold and Planet Hyundai.
The Promenade is at 7195 Egan Crest Way. Look for the large green balloon.
With its mature trees, formally planted landscapes, children's play area and shaded seating areas, the park is ideal to stroll along while enjoying ice cream, activities and views of the city.
After the event, attendees are invited to explore Providence and see why it continues to be among Nevada's and the country's best-selling master plans.
The 1,200-acre community is home to neighborhoods created by Beazer Homes, Lennar, Pardee Homes, Richmond American Homes, Ryland Homes, Warmington Residential Nevada and Woodside Homes.
The builders are presenting model homes to tour that highlight floor plans for every budget and lifestyle. Plus, many of them also are offering financing programs, energy-saving features and incentives.
For example, Alyssa Sagart bought a brand-new home at Warmington's Northern Terrace through Neighborhood Lift, a collaboration between Wells Fargo Bank N.A., Wells Fargo Foundation, NeighborWorks America and Las Vegas city officials. The privately funded initiative provided her down payment funds.
Sagart receives membership to the Club at Northern Terrace where she can enjoy unlimited use of three pools, a spa, onsite fitness center, entertainment room with television and children's play areas. This multimillion dollar recreational facility has a full-time staff and year-round community events and classes.
Warmington is selling new homes in three Northern Terrace neighborhoods: Claremont, Westcott and Emery. Twelve single-level and two-story plans range from 1,529 to 3,410 square feet and are priced from the mid-$100,000s to the low $200,000s. These homes include as many as six bedrooms and two and three-space garages. For information, call 877-930-5599 or visit HomesByWarmington.com/NorthernTerrace.
