Friends start campaign to get dying man on Ellen

Friends of a man in Utah who has been fighting colorectal cancer for the past seven years have started a campaign to get him on the Ellen Degeneres show.

Dov Siporin has been known in his community for inspiring those around him with messages of encouragement and now the viral campaign is pushing to spread those messages, KUTV reports.

Siporin, father of two, was diagnosed when his daughter was eight months old. “It was one of the scariest things ever,” he said.

He says he’s had 7,500 hours of chemotherapy, three months of radiation and seven surgeries so far, and despite this, he’s currently preparing for Salt Lake City’s 5k Color Run.

“If I’m dying, what better thing to do than to be surrounded by color and joy,” he told KUTV.

His friends started a social media campaign using the hashtag #EllenMeetDov and they’re asking people to submit him to be a guest on the show.
