GLVAR elects new board members, officers for 2011

The Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors has elected new board members and officers to lead Southern Nevada's largest professional trade organization starting in 2011.

GLVAR President Rick Shelton, whose one-year term heading the association ends Dec. 31, announced the results of GLVAR's annual election today. Officers of the 2011 GLVAR Board of Directors include: President Paul Bell, of Prudential Americana Group; President-elect Kolleen Kelley, of Realty Executives of Nevada; Vice President Bob Lamonte, of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Desert Properties and Treasurer Kathryn Bovard, of Prudential Americana Group. All will take office Jan. 1, 2011.

Shelton, the broker and owner of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Desert Properties in Southern Nevada, said that GLVAR appointed two current board members to complete the remaining terms of two officers who recently passed away. Through the end of 2010, he said Kolleen Kelley will replace the late Min Melvin as vice president. Forrest Barbee, of Prudential Americana Group, was appointed to replace the late Paula Smith as 2010 treasurer.

Local Realtors elected to serve as directors in 2011 include: Christopher Bishop, of Keller Williams Realty Las Vegas; Janet Carpenter, of Realty One Group; Noah Herrera, of Platinum R.E. Professionals; Heidi Kasama, of Prudential Americana Group and Nye County Director Mary Greenspan, of Greenspan Brokerage.

Local Realtors not up for re-election who will continue serving as directors in 2011 include: Christine McNaught, of Windermere Prestige Properties; Fafie Moore, of Realty Executives of Nevada; Trish Nash, of EXIT Realty Unlimited; Cheryl Smith, of Act 1 Realty; David Tina, of Realty One Group and Gina Lyon, of Keller Williams Realty Mesquite.

Gary Banner, of Commerce CRG, Cushman & Wakefield, will become president of the GLVAR's Commercial Alliance Las Vegas for 2011 and will represent commercial real estate interests on the GLVAR board of directors.

Walt Coffey, of Windermere Anthem Hills, was elected as the director chairing the GLVAR's Multiple Listing Service.
