Art fest: The Inspirada Art Fest is planned from noon to 4 p.m. May 14 at the Solista Community Center, 2000 Via Firenze. Obstacle course: Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas, 1051 Sandy Ridge Ave., is set to host a summer kick-off event from 3:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. May 14. The event will include a 34-foot obstacle course, a magic show, food and refreshments and more. It is open to the public, and entry is $10 per person.
Social bicycling: Through May, the public can take Cadence community’s social bicycles for a spin for an opportunity to win one of two $100 REI gift cards. Both courses are to circle around the park decorated with the combat boots and photos memorializing fallen service members. Proceeds will benefit military families. Red Rock marathon: Triple Dare Running Co. plans its spring race, the Flight of Fire Trail Half Marathon & 10K, for May 14 at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, 1000 Scenic Loop Drive. Starting at the Visitor Center, the course will travel clockwise to the Moenkopi Loop, the Grand Circle Loop, and the White Rock-Willow Springs Trail, then to the White Rock dirt road, back to the Grand Circle Loop, on to the Calico Hills Trail, and finally back to the Moenkopi Loop, finishing at the center. This course is a technical trail race, and trail shoes with gaiters are recommended. The 10K follows the same course, ending at the White Rock aid station. Bike rodeo: The MountainView Hospital Bike Rodeo is planned from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 14 at the hospital’s south parking lot, 3150 N. Tenaya Way.
