CITY OF HENDERSON TO HOST PHOTO CONTEST

The city of Henderson is set to host its Trails Photo Contest through August.

The categories include a Henderson trail, a Henderson park, the Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve or Henderson wildlife.

Photos and ribbons are scheduled to be awarded to the top three finalists in each category. Awards are to be displayed at the Downtown Recreation Center beginning Oct. 5.

Entries must be mailed or submitted in person to the Downtown Recreation Center, 105 W. Basic Road, before 5 p.m. Aug. 30.

BACK-TO-SCHOOL CLOTHING SWAP SET FOR AUG. 9

The Henderson District Public Libraries plan a back-to-school clothing swap from 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 9 at the Paseo Verde Library, 280 S. Green Valley Parkway.

Residents can drop off bags of children’s clothes through Aug. 8 at the library and receive a ticket for each bag. Participants can return Aug. 9 to pick out a bag of “new to you” school clothes.

Donated clothes must be clean and free of rips or stains. No teen or adult sizes will be accepted. All swaps are final.

Remaining clothing will be donated to HopeLink of Southern Nevada.
