LOCAL AUTHOR TO SPEAK AT HENDERSON LIBRARIES
Local author Andrew Nixon is slated to be a part of Henderson Libraries local author series at 2:30 p.m. June 25 at Paseo Verde Library, 280 S. Green Valley Parkway.
Nixon is expected to talk about his book “50 Shades of Grades, My Journey Through Wacademia.”

SCHOOL TEACHER WINS COMMUNITY PRIDE AWARD
The city of Henderson Commemorative Beautification Commission recently announced Cindy Carr its recipient of the Community Pride Award.
Carr, a teacher at Robert Taylor Elementary School, was recognized for organizing a cleanup and renovation of a desert tortoise habitat, cactus garden and vegetable garden at her school.

HENDERSON FORMS BICYCLE UNIT
With a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice, the city of Henderson recently launched a bicycle unit.
The 18-member unit will be tasked with providing enforcement on trails and at city events such as the upcoming Fourth of July celebration.
This new team also accompanies Henderson’s recent designation as a Bicycle Friendly Community.

HENDERSON OFFERS WORLD’S LARGEST SWIM LESSON
The city of Henderson is preparing for the world’s largest swimming lesson at 8 a.m. June 20.
Henderson is joining the international event that is designated to raise awareness about child safety in and around the water.
The free event is supposed to take place at the Black Mountain Aquatic Complex, 599 Greenway Road; the Henderson Multigenerational Center, 250 S. Green Valley Parkway; and the Whitney Ranch Recreation Center, 1575 Galleria Drive.

PARENTS NIGHT OUT TO OFFER GAMES AND ACTIVITIES
The city of Henderson is scheduled to host a Parents Night Out from 6 to 8 p.m. June 20 at the Whitney Ranch Indoor Pool, 1575 Galleria Drive.
The event is slated to include pizza, dessert, swimming activities and games.
Children must be able to swim at least one length of the pool comfortably to participate.
The event is open to children 8 to 12 and costs $10.
